In September 2005 I was offered a job in Ireland. There was not enough time to sort out all my commitments. I contacted a Solicitor who had been recomended by a friend. I met with him and gave him all my outstanding accounts with R57 000.00 to distrabute. In addition, he was to receive a further R50 000.00 for payment of a leasehold.

I quickly established myself in Ireland and have not returned to SA since.

I am now home, I tried to find the Solicitor and am advised thatb he was struck off in 2006. Non of my creditors were ever paid. No money was paid by the tennant for ther transfer of a 10 year lease.

I left ALL records with this Solicitor. Another Solicitor was aware of this arrangemnet, but he has since immergated to Australia.

What can I do now, to recover my money...???

Have you tried contacting the law society? There is a fund called the ATTORNEYS' FIDELITY FUND. The main objective of this fund is to reimburse the public who may have suffered a loss due to theft of trust monies by a practitioner. And we call them attorneys here and not solicitors as in the UK.
